Ground Floor
Entrance Hall
The property counter, the charging desk, Internet browsing corner, computer section and the rare book collection are housed in the large entrance hall.
United Nations Depository Centre
The beautiful domed browsing room measuring about 2250 sq. ft holds collection of the UNO publications and World Bank Collection. From June 1967,the Library has been designated as a depository center for the publications of the United Nations which includes the UNESCO, FAO, GATT, WHO, IMF, ICAO, the World Bank and a few other agencies of the United Nations.
Current Periodicals/Theses and Dissertations Section
The periodical section is to the left of the ground floor reading hall. The current periodicals are displayed for reference to the users in the periodical section. The Ph.D. theses awarded by the Karnatak University, Dharwad are kept for the reference of the researchers in the section. A Compendium of theses has been compiled with various indices for their easy retrieval.
Reading and Stack Rooms
A corridor from the entrance hall leads to the reading cum stack room which is located at the western side. The reading hall accommodates about 150 readers at a time. The carpet area of the reading hall is about 4900 sq ft.

Mezzanine
On the mezzanine of the ground floor, books on Computer Science, Library and Information Science, Journalism Mathematics, Electronics are housed along with the back volumes of periodicals of Economics, Management, Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Folklore, Law, and some selective reports of various commissions formed by the Government.
First Floor
Major portion of the library collection is housed in the first floor which includes Science, Social Science and Humanities collection. In order to facilitate users there is another reading hall on this floor which can also accommodate around 150 readers at a time.
Second Floor
In the second floor the total back volume collection is housed along with few social science subjects like Economics, Commerce, Management and Sociology.
Administrative Section
The Administrative wing is housed at the right (east side) of entrance hall. It comprises of the Librarian’s chamber, the Acquisition Unit, the Technical Unit, the Bindery Unit and the Accounts Section. This is housed away from the reading halls to avoid disturbance caused by the routine activities of these sections to the users.
